Meet Dr. Brett Murphey

Dr. Brett Murphey was born and raised in the Houston area. He completed his undergraduate studies at Texas A&M in Biomedical Science, and he taught 9th grade science at Eisenhower High School before becoming a dentist. He was well-liked by his students, and he was even awarded “Teacher of the Month” by the student body… Mr. February!

Dr. Murphey graduated from the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston at the top of his class, with honors. In addition to being elected Class President, he excelled in patient relations, hand clinical skills and was well-liked by his peers. On a mission for continuous improvement in all endeavors in his life, Dr. Murphey holds himself to a high standard of excellence. He believes in surrounding himself with a superstar team, too, to help him be the best he can.

As part of his pursuit of excellence, Dr. Murphey has taken hundreds of hours of continuing education in such areas as cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, and sedation dentistry. This is more than most doctors his age.

Dr. Murphey is friendly, he loves what he does, and he aims to get things done right the first time. To help him accomplish this, he listens to his patients’ expectations and strives to accommodate each individual’s needs.

In his personal life, Dr. Murphey and his wife Crystal have three beautiful children together; Elizabeth, Brett Aaron and newest edition Corbin! For the past ten years, Dr. Murphey has traveled to Mexico, where he provides dental care to over 200 orphans. He also enjoys riding motorcycles, boating, skiing, scuba diving and is involved in a men’s Bible study. Dr. Murphey looks forward to getting to know you and your family, too!

Meet Dr. Colin Lathrop

Dr. Colin Lathrop is from the Houston area and recently relocated from Marble Falls, TX to join our outstanding team! He is a graduate of both Houston Baptist University and University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston, Dr. Lathrop graduated both institutions with high honors earning many research and clinical awards.

Dr. Lathrop brings to the Woodlands an extensive background in clinical research from the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research in Bethesda. The NIH is the premier biomedical research facility in the world which directs and distributes grants to research facilities at universities and medical centers across the nation. Dr. Lathrop also completed research in the department of Head & Neck Surgery, MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Over the years Dr. Lathrop has gained the passion, technical skill and experience to provide his patients with the most beautiful, comfortable healthy smile and gums possible. Advanced training in Periodontics, Orthodontics and CEREC CAD/CAM dentistry allows Dr. Lathrop to provide cutting edge technology and techniques to benefit Woodlands Family Dental patients.

In addition to extensive training and research, Dr. Lathrop puts patients at ease with his gentle and warm-hearted personality while making sure to listen to every question or concern a patient may have.

Away from the office, Dr. Lathrop and his wife Raven spend time with their new baby girl Parker! Their two dogs and a cat also keep things interesting around the Lathrop household. Dr. Lathrop and Raven enjoy watching movies and traveling. Dr Lathrop’s other passion after his wife, daugther and pets, is learning about and working on his classic bronco for hours on end in the garage.
