We know dental anxiety is not unusual. People of all ages can experience such feelings. We will adjust our care to meet your needs, so you can receive the treatment you desire at a pace that feels comfortable to you. We also offer nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and oral conscious sedation to help you relax. Please share your feelings and concerns with us, so we can accommodate you and make your dental visits as anxiety- and pain-free as we can.
Here at Woodlands Family Dental we offer the full spectrum of sedation dentistry options to support our general, restorative and cosmetic dental treatment services, such as:
Oral Conscious Sedation
A combination of medications are taken an hour before coming to our office. A companion of your choice then drives you to and from our office. You arrive in a relaxed and drowsy state. From this point on, a member of our family dentistry team is always with you, and your vital signs are monitored during your visit. You are released from your treatment minutes after completion. Your dental visit will be part of a comfortable and easy day.
We have partnered with Greater Houston Anesthesiology. The Anesthesiologist will come to our office and administer general anesthesia. The patient is rendered unconscious for the period of time during the treatment.

Dr. Murphey is one of the few dentists in the area with privileges to perform surgeries at Memorial Hermann in the Woodlands.
Often referred to as laughing gas, is an effective anesthetic that has many benefits for patients seeking relaxed dental treatments. The gas is administered with a comfortable mask placed over the nose, and the patient is instructed to breathe in through the nose. After treatment, the patient is given pure oxygen to breathe for about five minutes. All effects are reversed allowing the patient to drive home without an escort.
